LET’S DO THIS, EVERYONE!
So Friday – or the planet associated to this day—> VENUS! According to our good old trusted friend, Swiss mathematician and musicologist, Hans Cousto. It is the planet that promotes: beauty, aesthetics, puts you in touch with your inner femme – the goddess of sensuality, love, restores balance, enhances one-on-one relationships and exudes femininity!
Venus has a full atmosphere, is Earth sized and right next to us. Yet NASA, wants to go Mars and never talks about Venus? (oh Pam, slaps wrist, but I digress…)
And of course, it is the house of LIBRA! (ahem..cusp with Scorpio over here, but who’s counting, right?!) Oh and of course, let us not forget the mighty bull —> Taurus, for to the bull’s planet is VENUS.
Let me just say, Libra is the only zodiac sign that stands for an idea or ideology, while the other signs are physical manifestations and/or can be touched in physical form. But I digress.
Now, I know what you’re thinking…should I go with blue or red? Meaning which goddess will I choose. The Roman goddess —> Venus, goddess of love, beauty, sex, fertility, prosperity and VICTORY! To whom my heart and every existence belongs to! To whom I would give my art arm — now that you know, where that saying comes from, as you already read my Happy Tyr’ day! Right? 😉 The God Tyr and the wolf and the king of the dwarf people? Seriously…no, you haven’t? Well here it is in case you missed it. It’s a DOOZY!

Or….(drum roll please)…the norse goddess – FREYA. Whom I knew nothing about, until now!
Well I think each goddess has her own crown. And deserves her own post! I have, however, decided on posting on Freya only because, I am keeping up with the theme of the Norse gods 🙂
Okay, now, let us begin: (please note, I am doing a completely separate post on VENUS – the roman goddess based on the book – Metamorphoses, written in 2nd century AD by Lucius Apuleius Madaurensis.) I am just fascinated about the topic of LOVE and so I will highlight one of the greatest stories ever told! Stay tuned 😉
As for Freya, let us begin! She is one of the Aesir gods (pronounced “ICE-ear.) Which gods belong to the mighty Aesir god tribe? Why none other than Odin, Thor, Frigg (although some say, in myth, she is Freya, as they share the same husband – Odin.) There is also Tyr (whom you now know intimately) and Loki – the trickster god, and many more.
They all live in Asgard, one of the Nine Worlds, which is found on the highest, wayyyyy up, sunniest branches of the world-tree Yggdrasil.

Oh, what’s that?.. Plant? You want to say, hiiii? (Naturally you mention trees and she appears…oh okay…)
Plant wants to say hi, so be quick: (And if you don’t know who Plant is…get out of your cave MAN, STAT! Where have you been?!…)
Anyway, the Nine Worlds consist of, although never really directly mentioned, are:
Midgard, the world of humanity
Asgard, the world of the Aesir tribe, gods and goddesses
Vanaheim, the world of the Vanir tribe, gods and goddesses
Jotunheim, the world of the giants
Niflheim, the world of ice
Muspelheim, the world of fire
Alfheim, the world of the elves
Svartalfheim, the world of the dwarves
and Hel, the world of the eponymous goddess Hel, and the dead

with integrity of course, and mutually beneficial, respectful, blah, blah, blah.) Heck! when you’re a damn goddess of an infectious drug we call love, beauty, fertility and the finer tings in life…who wouldn’t be, right?
Anyway, she was, that and so much more!
She was the archetype of what we know as, the female shaman. The völva, or seidr, which was known as the old Norse goddess of magic!
In fact, it was she who brought it! Yah, she BROUGHT IT, like A BOSS! She shared this shamanic art with the gods and with humans! Showing them how to morph matter, and the desire, health, and prosperity of others. Her presence, was unmatched, among gods. That is how powerful she was! BAM!
So what exactly does a female, goddess, shaman do?! You ask. Well tales have said that Freya, lend someone a feather, and helped them out by shape shifting, into a hawk!
So, a Seidr (pronounced “SAY-der) easier to remember if you say, SE-ER of things 😉 is a form of pre-Christian Norse magic and/or shamanism, concerned with altering the course of destiny! POW! and Re-weaving destiny’s web! BAM!
Usually, to do this, the practioner or Seidr, holds a ritual distaff in one hand, enters a TRANCE like STATE (done via many means) and then travels into the spirit world, throughout the Nine Worlds (now we know, what the 9 worlds are, hooray!)
Gosh, this sounds like channeling to me?! 😉 Anyway, the feedback is usually seen as prophecy, a blessing or a curse (gag!)
Seriously, who does shit like that! I personally don’t believe ANYBODY has the power to influence YOU, without YOUR PERMISSION. PERIOD!
Okay, so where is Freya now? Well legend has it, she presides in the afterlife, over the realm of Folkvang. And where is that? you ask.
It is the realm of the afterlife, known as the “Field of the People” or “Field of Armies.”
I think, tis’ but a clue…perhaps…the realm land is merely a dream? And this is all, ‘but a dream.’ So perhaps…she resides within all of us? And maybe, like Odin, she disguises herself as a mere mortal, goddess like. And walks among us, to awaken beauty and love, within all of us! And shares her secrets of magic and shamanism, for those she loves!
